Known for his expertise in fishing and firearms, there wasn't much Bill couldn't tell you about either one. And when Bill started his own fishing and hunting store, it too became a legend overnight. Not only for the quality range of gear it sold, but for the expertise Bill willingly passed on to his valued customers. Then in 1956, Bill invented the now legendary "Hamills Killer Fly". Designed to simulate a dragonfly on the Rotorua lakes, Bill's invention cunningly combined colour, size and shape into one of the world's most successful fishing flies. Fisherman from around New Zealand and overseas were soon arriving at Bill's store in search of the famous Killer Fly. Over half a century later, the Hamills tradition is now stronger than ever in delivering the finest range of fishing and hunting gear and advice in the country.
